According to a survey published on May 18th by Prometeia, a prominent Italian Research Company based in Bologna, Covid 19 will have a huge impact on Italian export in 2020. Forecasts estimate in 14% the fall of exports for the Italian productive system compared to 2019.
Prometeia has built an Exposure Index that measures how the international crisis impacts on regional economies; the index is calculated on 3 variables: 1) the weight of exports on GDP; 2) sectors’ contribution on regional regional export; 3) foreign demand trend in 2020.
The most relevant impact is expected in Emilia-Romagna and Veneto, whose economic systems are highly connected to the international markets.
